Facebook has given its app a refresh in an effort to show users the latest posts from their friends and connections.

Users who open the app on their phones will now see the Home tab to help discover new content from creators and recommendations.

This is what Facebook refers to as a “discovery engine” based on people’s habits.

The social network also added a Feeds tab to discover the most recent posts from friends, pages and favourites.

Users can already curate Favourites lists and Pages to filter content from the tab.

“One of the most requested features for Facebook is to make sure people don’t miss friends’ posts. So today we’re launching a Feeds tab where you can see posts from your friends, groups, Pages and more separately in chronological order,” Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta wrote.

“The app will still open to a personalized feed on the Home tab, where our discovery engine will recommend the content we think you’ll care most about. But the Feeds tab will give you a way to customize and control your experience further.”

The Home tab is now fully personalised to each users based on Meta’s machine learning algorithm.

This “takes into account thousands of signals to help cut through the clutter and rank content in the order we think you will find most valuable. We’re investing in AI to best serve recommended content in this ranked experience.”
